Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte has ordered an immediate investigation into the killing of Francisco “Isko” Zubieta, a former sales employee at Toyota Car Company in Davao City.

Zubieta was gunned down by riding-in-tandem assailants on November 12 on J P Laurel Avenue in Lanang district, Davao City.

Zubieta is the fourth Toyota employee killed in the past few months.

“I am not accusing the owners of the Toyota Company here, but they must give an explanation, because the grieving families of the victims sought my help and pointed to them as those who could be possibly behind these killings,” Duterte said.

An attorney for the Zubieta family told the media that Francisco was among the 12 former employees of Toyota who figured in a qualified theft case filed by Toyota Company in 2012.
The City Prosecutor’s Office dismissed the case for lack of probable cause in the same year.
Earlier this year, Toyota Company once again filed another case against the same 12 employees accusing them of theft – saying they stole car accessories from the company.

“While the case was ongoing, three former workers and my client were gunned down on separate occasions,” Atty. Delgra said.

Duterte said “there must be an end to these senseless killings”, adding that “the truth must come out so that justice may be met”.
