Three people are dead and six other wounded when a fisherman went crazy and started stabbing people on a vessel returning from Palawan.

The incident happened off the coast of Sibulan in Negros Oriental yesterday – the casualties include Quirico Estoras, a resident of Sibulan, who sustained numerous stab wounds to the body.

Two additional men also died and were identified as Benjie Jorheho and the suspect himself was killed, 39-year-old Graciano Namoco of Siaton who was eventually ganged up against and killed by the remaining fishermen.

An investigation into the incident shows the fishing vessel, The FB San Tiyago, is owned by Ovinal Lim Salame of Caian in TayTay, Palawan and sailed off the coast of Ajong in Sibulan – After leaving land and traveling 200 meters the suspect Namoco starting to run around crazy stabbing anybody who came near him.

Jorheho was able to call for help from the other crew members and most of them ran and hid on the ship. One crew member tried to pacify the suspect but Namoco became enraged and stabbed Jorheho dead – it was then that the remaining crew ganged up on the crazed fisherman and killed him, striking him with wood and other objects on board.

The Philippine Coast Guard in Dumaguete is holding the boat and will conduct a full investigation into the incident. The additional wounded fishermen were Gabriel Ricardo, 51, of Bindoy town in Negros Oriental; Roel Dagodog, 55, from Mabinay; Roque Tersona, 43, from Basay; Jovy Saldo, 23, from Bais City; Dominador Pilonggo, 46, and Julito Babor, 27, both from Sta. Catalina.

Five of the wounded were taken to Negros Oriental Provincial Hospital and one was taken to Silliman University Medical Center.
