Use of the new drug mixture has been reported in several regions of the country.

Carfentanil is known to slow breathing, so much in fact its users are dying from the potent mixture. The drug is not approved for human use as it is used commercially to sedate large animals, mostly elephants.

Sources say that just two milligrams can knock out a 2,000 pound animal in minutes.

Authorities say that most who are taking the drug have no idea they are consuming it – many dealers are cutting the heroin with fentanyl analogues to give it a boost and stretch out the supply.

The mixture is said to be deadly beyond comparison to anything else on the market today. Police say that overdoes outbreaks are piling up in the state of Florida, Indiana and Ohio.

Authorities say the drug appears to have only one person dishing out the deadly doses. One county in Ohio alone has had 90 overdoses just this past weekend.
