Senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos admitted on Thursday that his family is actively blocking the forfeiture case in which 200 rare pieces of artwork are being sought by the government in an ill-gotten wealth suite against them.

Marcos Jr, the son of late Philippines dictator Ferdinand Marcos, said his family is blocking the case since this was not the subject of any court order.

The Presidential Commission on Good Government, formed by the late former president Corazon Aquino aimed at recovering the ill-gotten wealth of the Marcos family and their cronies.

The commission has put up a website seeking the help of anyone who knows where the paintings are in an attempt to recover the rare artworks.

Several of the paintings are by master such as Pablo Picasso, Van Gogh, Monet, Michelangelo, and Rembrandt to name a few.

The PCGG recently finished up a large appraisal of the Marco family jewels which could sell for approximately one billion pesos at auction.

In the press conference, Marcos also reiterated his stand that the reparation case by Martial Law victims is now a matter between the national government and the claimants.

“The Marcos family is not a party to that legal action. That’s a different case.”

Bongbong noted in the debate last week that he cannot give what he doesn’t have – that remarks comes from Marco’s rival Leni Robredo after she said the 75,000 claimants should be sourced from the ill-gotten wealth of the Marco family, not the government.

The Marcos family has long been dodging bullets when confronted about the paintings and other large hordes of cash, artwork, jewels and much more.

Sources have shown that the Marcos family plundered billions of dollars from the state coffers until the infamous “People Power” revolt toppled Ferdinand Marcos from power in 1986.

After Marcos died in Hawaii in 1989, The family returned to the Philippines in 1991, and began a very successful political comeback at the very hands of those they stole from.

That comeback has catapulted Bongbong into the Senate in 2010, and on the hot seat of the vice presidential campaign in 2016.

Bongbong has been heavily criticized for refusing to apologize for the injustices committed during his father’s dictatorship – but the reality of putting him and his family back into political power seems to have quashed any reality of that ever happening.
