An investigation into the possible motive for the killing has been launched while a manhunt to trace the perpetrators is underway.

A US Air Force veteran was found bludgeoned to death inside his own home in Baguio City, police have reported.

Emelito Nalapo was discovered by his housekeeper Miriam Bautista at 6.30am yesterday (Tuesday, July 17).

Police suspect he may have been attacked at about 1am. Forensic investigators have confirmed the cause of death as “intracranial haemorrhage” which he suffered due to multiple blows to his head.

According to a report in the Inquirer, it is believed his killer or killers gained access to the house through a second floor window.

The housekeeper said she did not hear anything occuring during the night, due to a heavy downpour of rain.

Police are continuing to investigate the murder, but have not yet been able to confirm any possible motive.

The victim’s body has been transfered to La Paz Funeral Homes while a manhunt for the perpetrators has been launched.

Further details about Mr Emelito – such as his age or place of birth – have not been released. However, a Linkedin profile page describes him as ‘manager of Emelito’s Cuisine’.

According to police figures, Mr Nalapo is the 47th foreigner to be murdered so far this year.

The killing comes just weeks after Canadian retiree Barry Gammon was shot and killed in Batangas City.

As we previously reported, Mr Gammon, aged 56, and his wife Luzviminda Comia Gammon, 45, were outside their garage when two gunmen approached and shot them on Sunday, June 24.

Police investigators have since confirmed that Mr Gammon was preparing to leave the Philippines amid an ugly property dispute.
