Happier times: Hillarie Parungao with her father Edmundo that she posted to Facebook yesterday

The father of a former Miss World Philippines reportedly shot himself in the mouth inside a police station after being arrested on drug charges.

Edmundo Parungao, a businessman aged 46 and father of beauty queen Hillarie Parungao, was said to have grabbed a gun and killed himself at the station in Solano, Nueva Vizcaya, on Tuesday, April 18.

Chief Inspector Billy Mangali, Solano police chief, said three sachets of shabu were allegedly seized from Mr Parungao.

A police report said he later grabbed the Glock 9mm pistol of his escort moments after his handcuffs had been removed when he complained of chest pains.

Police records show that Mr Parungao yielded to Oplan Tokhang last year.
