Fake ‘Cop’ Arrested for Illegally Picking up Foreigners at NAIA –

MANILA, Philippines – A man who has long introduced himself as a ‘police colonel,’ was arrested by members of the Airport Police Department at NAIA Terminal 3 this week.

The suspect, who identified himself as police Colonel Dante Aragones, was arrested while driving a Montero transporter vehicle.

After his arrest, police found several ID cards stating he is a member of the police, as well as the International Police Commission. A black jacket with an “International Affairs Office, PNP” patch was discovered inside his vehicle as well.

Authorities said the suspect has been the subject of complaints by legitimate transport companies at the terminal, but had always introduced himself as a colonel.

Police also noted that Aragones had long been picking up foreign passengers at NAIA , charging them a minimum of 700 pesos per passenger.

A full investigation is pending in the matter – Aragones denied the charges against him.
