Stanley Wolf, aged 52, of Wyandot County, Ohio has been arrested and is now facing deportation for several offences, including overstaying.
The American will be flown to Manila for deportation proceedings after he outstayed his visa and took on work as a carpenter, without a permit, to support himself.
Wolf was arrested in his fiance’s home in Balingasag, Misamis Oriental, at 2pm on Tuesday. He was taken to the National Bureau of Investigation in Cagayan de Oro City where he spent the night in detention.
Authorities say that Wolf overstayed by 10 months and was hiding from immigration officials because he did not want to leave his 37-year-old fiance Bembie Padilla.
Wolf admitted he arrived on a one-month tourist visa, but spent all his money and couldn’t afford to return to the United States.
He also said he wanted to marry Padilla but had no money for a wedding, prompting him to seek work.
