A suspected American child abuser is behind bars after being arrested at Ninoy Aquino International Airport.

The Bureau of Immigration (BI) said 58-year-old Robin Hoyt Alderman was detained at Manila’s airport following a tip off from US authorities.

Alderman, who is also known as Robinson Alderman and from Oakland, California, had just arrived aboard a Philippine Airlines flight from Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, when he was collared by BI agents at the immigration arrival area.

BI Chief Jaime Morente said they had received information from the US embassy that Alderman was visiting Manila to meet and have sex with children he had contacted online while he was abroad. It has not been confirmed whether his intended victims were boys or girls.

“His conversations with the would-be victims allegedly suggested that Alderman was going to meet them when he comes here and have sexual intercourse with them,” Mr Morente said.

BI port operations chief Marc Red Mariñas said that members of the police’s Women and Children Protection Center (WCPC) joined BI agents in carrying out the operation against Alderman.

Mr Mariñas said the WCPC operatives took Alderman into custody and are continuing to investigate his case at Camp Crame.

BI spokesman Grifton Medina said that aside from a criminal case, Alderman would be subjected to deportation proceedings for being an undesirable alien.

However, Alderman will only be deported if the charges against him are dropped.

UPDATE: It was later revealed that the American child abuser was carrying vibrators and other sex toys and planning to recreate 50 Shades of Grey with his young victims.

Although Alderman, who works as a yoga instructor, was prevented from actually abusing any children in the Philippines, the fact that he booked them for that purpose was enough to charge him under the Anti-Human Trafficking Law. He remains in custody at Camp Crame.
