10-peso reduction in taxi flag down rate due to lower price of oil

The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board has approved the provisional reduction of the taxi ‘flag down’ fare from the existing 40 pesos to 30 pesos due to the low prices of oil in the world market recently.

The reduction will take effect Monday, March 9, 2015 and will cover all air-conditioned taxi services nationwide – including airport taxis.

The far reduction only applies to the ‘flag down’ rate and not the cost the taxi thereafter.

Taxi operators and drivers violating the order will be penalised under the Joint Administrative Order No. 2014-01 (Revised Schedule of Fines and Penalties for Violations of Laws, Rules and Regulations governing Land Transportation).
